A very popular beach among surfers (and boogie-boarders alike) is Domes Beach, which owes its name to the nearby hemispherical facility, very visible from the beach. Once the designated land for this nuclear reactor built in the 1960s by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, it is now a main surfer morning attraction. Ramla Tal-Qortin is a small remote sandy beach in the northern part of the island of Malta. It is neither famous, nor popular. It might be worth checking it out if you have seen all other Maltese beaches and you wish to escape from crowds, but there are much better alternatives in the island.

Nowadays it’s mostly known for Popeye Village, which was used as the set for the 1980 Hollywood musical Popeye, starring Robin Williams as Popeye.
The bay itself is quite isolated and not very popular, either with locals or tourists. Water is clear though and sea conditions are usually adequate for swimming. It’s an even better location for divers, because of the many caves. Although not famous for it, it might [ ... ]
