This small pebble beach lies right next to the harbor in the town of Baska in the island of Krk. It is a good alternative to Vela Plaza and not too far from it either. Water is usually clear and calm, thus making a good candidate setting for swimmers (and sunbathers alike). The proximity with the harbor, although not a busy one, can cause some disturbance on the water on those days when currents are adverse; never too much of a problem though. Just as Vela Plaza, this little beach can also get crowded, so that it’s suggested that you show up early in the morning (or at lunch time) in order to secure your spot.
It is mainly a pebble beach, but you can also sunbathe on the nearby port pier. Swimming is usually good, especially if you keep on the left side of the beach; here snorkeling is also decent, with a chance of spotting some small fish. Being right next to the Baska town center, it offers a lot of facilities (hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, post office and so forth). There are some water sport equipment rentals in the area also, and you’re also very close to the docks from where the boats to other beaches in the island (most notably Vela Luka) leave. You can hence change your mind very easily if you don’t really like what you’ve stepped into.
It’s very easy to reach and access this beach. It’s located right near the harbor of Baska, close to where the Palada and Ulica Kricin streets meet. A few steps of stairs need to be climbed down from the town of Baska in order for this beach to be reached.
