Although there are no sandy beaches in Sliema, right close to its center, there are coastline rocks which offer a good opportunity to sunbathe, swim and snorkel within the city. Metal handrails give safe access to water to bathers and alternative swimming and sunbathing is offered by seafront lidos, both on Tower Road and on Qui-Si-Sana, the point of the peninsula.
Sliema is located on the eastern side of Malta, just above Valletta. You can get there by car following road 127 (although it might not turn out to be as easy as it might seem, without a GPS). Alternatively, you can get there by bus, being very well served, by lines 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 70, 166, 627, 645, 652 and 675.
