Harbor Beach in Baska (Island of Krk)

Rating: ★★★☆☆

This small pebble beach lies right next to the harbor in the town of Baska in the island of Krk. It is a good alternative to Vela Plaza and not too far from it either. Water is usually clear and calm, thus making a good candidate setting for swimmers (and sunbathers alike). The proximity with the harbor, although not a busy one, can cause some disturbance on the water on those days when currents are adverse; never too much of a problem though. Just as Vela Plaza, this little beach can also get crowded, so that it’s suggested that you show up early in the morning (or at lunch time) in order to secure your spot.

Vela Plaza in Baska, Island of Krk

Rating: ★★★½☆

Right within the center of the town of Baska, Vela Plaza is one of the most famous (and hence crowded) beaches in the island of Krk. Water is crystal clear and usually calm, thus providing an ideal setting for everyone, especially families with children. It always gets crowded though, so that you have to show up early in order to secure your spot and also to expect a day surrounded by other people (mainly Italian, German or Croatian tourists) if you decide to stop here. It is mainly a pebble beach with a few spots where sunbathing on the concrete curb and docks is also an option.

Croatia – Bunculuka Bay (Baska, Island of Krk)

Rating: ★★★½☆

BanculukaBanculuka Bay is a sandy/pebble beach within the premises of the FKK Banculuka naturist Camp, in the island of Krk (near the town of Baska). The beach is pretty wide, offering lot of locations where to sunbathe. Although it’s rare to find yourself suffocating in a dense crowd, you still have to be prepared that you’ll definitely share this beach with other people – to get you an idea about numbers, the camping alone can accomodate more than 1000 guests. Most of these people will be naturist and hence they’ll be naked. Just be prepared for this. Water is crystal clear and facilities of all sorts are present (restaurant, bar, mini markt, bakery, grocery, fast food kiosk, etc). There are also some sporting facilities (tennis, miniature golf, volleyball) .

Rating: ★★★★½

On the Island of Comino you can find the sheltered inlet known as the “Blue Lagoon”, whose stunning blue waters have transformed it into one of Malta’s premier attractions. It can be reached by boat only, either from Gozo or Malta. It’s suggested to get there early, as the place becomes VERY busy with tourists during the later hours of the day. more »
