Añasco Beach – Puerto Rico

Rating: ★★★★☆

Just outside the town of Añasco lies this peaceful tropical beach. There are no facilities awaiting for you here, but if relax away from crowds is what you’re looking for, then this beach is perfect for you. Water is usually calm and hence good for swimming. The tropical environment is really suggestive (perfect environment for great pictures) and offers a good location for a day at the beach to relax, near to both Rincon and Añasco, but far away from crowds. Oprna bay in Stara Baska – Island of Krk

Rating: ★★★★½

At about 10 km south of Punat, lies famous Oprna Bay, one of the most prominent and beautiful beaches of the island of Krk. This 120m wide, remote pebbly beach has some of the clearest waters and best unspoiled environments that you might experience, so it’s definitely suggested for a day at the beach. It’s not very easy to reach it, since you have to follow a pretty long and steep downhill trekking path. Once you’re there, some fun and relax are guaranteed though. Immersed into nature you’ll be able to sunbathe, swim, snorkel or even play some beach sports. The bay also offers some good snorkeling opportunities in its shallow, calm waters.

Vela Plaza in Baska, Island of Krk

Rating: ★★★½☆

Right within the center of the town of Baska, Vela Plaza is one of the most famous (and hence crowded) beaches in the island of Krk. Water is crystal clear and usually calm, thus providing an ideal setting for everyone, especially families with children. It always gets crowded though, so that you have to show up early in order to secure your spot and also to expect a day surrounded by other people (mainly Italian, German or Croatian tourists) if you decide to stop here. It is mainly a pebble beach with a few spots where sunbathing on the concrete curb and docks is also an option.

Malta Beaches – Anchor Bay

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Anchor BayAnchor Bay is a small bay located approximately one km west of the village of Mellieha, which was named after the countless anchors which have been found in the bay. Nowadays it’s mostly known for Popeye Village, which was used as the set for the 1980 Hollywood musical Popeye, starring Robin Williams as Popeye.
The bay itself is quite isolated and not very popular, either with locals or tourists. Water is clear though and sea conditions are usually adequate for swimming. It’s an even better location for divers, because of the many caves. Although not famous for it, it might give snorkelers a good chance to spot some fish.

Malta Beaches – Ramla Bay in Gozo

Rating: ★★★★½

Ramla Bay (Ir-Ramla il-Ħamra in Maltese) is a sandy beach, located on the north-eastern side of Gozo, one of the three Maltese islands. Its sand features a distinctive golden-reddish tint, from which it’s inherited its name. The beach is very popular with both Maltese residents and tourists, and can be reached by either car or bus. It’s ideal for sunbathing and swimming, but it’s wide enough that some beach sport activities can be performed as well (it’s indeed suitable for families). It’s easy to be accessed (even though you have to expect to walk a little, or rely on pay parking, because of its popularity) and offers a few facilities, such as a bar and restaurant, umbrella and beach chair rental and a few ice cream/cold drink booths. The beach is surrounded by hillsides on both the west and east, where many local farmers have gardens and orchards.
