Bays in Ulica Kricin, Baska – Island of Krk

Rating: ★★★½☆

Ulica Kricin is the street in the farthest south-east of the town of Baska, in the island of Krk. Although not technically a beach, this street directly faces the sea and offers many little coves and inlets where it’s possible to settle down, in order to sunbathe or just spend the day, swimming or snorkeling in the calm clear waters of this area.

Harbor Beach in Baska (Island of Krk)

Rating: ★★★☆☆

This small pebble beach lies right next to the harbor in the town of Baska in the island of Krk. It is a good alternative to Vela Plaza and not too far from it either. Water is usually clear and calm, thus making a good candidate setting for swimmers (and sunbathers alike). The proximity with the harbor, although not a busy one, can cause some disturbance on the water on those days when currents are adverse; never too much of a problem though. Just as Vela Plaza, this little beach can also get crowded, so that it’s suggested that you show up early in the morning (or at lunch time) in order to secure your spot.

Vela Plaza in Baska, Island of Krk

Rating: ★★★½☆

Right within the center of the town of Baska, Vela Plaza is one of the most famous (and hence crowded) beaches in the island of Krk. Water is crystal clear and usually calm, thus providing an ideal setting for everyone, especially families with children. It always gets crowded though, so that you have to show up early in order to secure your spot and also to expect a day surrounded by other people (mainly Italian, German or Croatian tourists) if you decide to stop here. It is mainly a pebble beach with a few spots where sunbathing on the concrete curb and docks is also an option.

Malta Beaches – Marsalforn in Gozo

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Marsalforn in GozoWe can’t really talk about a beach here, but rather about the sandy coastline of the seaside town of Marsalforn in Gozo. Although not too dirty, this beach isn’t something to talk about, so you might want to stop for a quick refreshment in the sea if you’re passing by. Definitely you have much better alternatives in Gozo if you’re there for the day.

Malta Beaches – Pretty Bay

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Pretty Bay in BirzebuggaPretty Bay’s the only sandy beach in the southern part of the island of Malta. Although it’s probably not worth to reach Birzebbugia (or B’Bugia as it’s usually called in Malta) just to visit it, it might well be a cool place where to chill out for a few hours if you find yourself in the southern tip of the island. Actually, the beach wouldn’t be bad at all, with some fine white sand, a few palms and lot of facilities around. What definitely ruins the environment are the heavy duty harbour facilities you’re facing while at the beach. Really not your beach dream landscape; but again, it’s not a terrible beach and can definitely offer you a chance to dip into the water if you find yourself in the souther part of the island.
