Malta Beaches – Marsalforn in Gozo

Rating: We can’t really talk about a beach here, but rather about the sandy coastline of the seaside town of Marsalforn in Gozo. Although not too dirty, this beach isn’t something to talk about, so you might want to stop for a quick refreshment in the sea if you’re passing by. Definitely you have much better alternatives in Gozo if you’re there for the day. Tweet This Post

Malta Beaches – White Tower Bay (Little Armier)

Rating: white Tower Bay, also called Little Armier is a white sand beach located on the north eastern part of the island of Malta. It is overlooked by the White Tower from which it inherits its name. Water is clean and crystal clear and the beach itself is quite pretty, definitely secluded. It’d be a great place to spend the day if not for the algae, the motor boats and the rubbish lying around. It’s still a good place to choose when you want to escape from crowds, but you definitely have better alternatives, so our suggestion is to keep [ ... ]

Malta Beaches – Armier Bay

Rating: This beach is very popular among locals and you can definitely opt to drive there (or take bus route 50) if you wish to blend with them and spend a day at the beach the Maltese way. It’s a quite pretty, sandy beach with clean water and a decent landscape. Facilities such as bars and restaurants are there for your needs also. It’s probably not as beautiful as other beaches in Malta, but you might want to give it a try, if you’re looking from something different. Tweet This Post

Malta Beaches – Mistra Bay

Rating: Mistra Bay is a pebble beach located between Xemxija Bay and Selmun. It is more common among locals rather than tourists, to the point that many tourist maps do not even mention it. It’s not large and is usually overtaken by Maltese, so that you have to show up early if you really want to spend the day there. There are a few facilities in the area, such as a restaurant and a bistro just across the road from the bay. Malta Beaches – Imgiebah Bay

Rating: Imgiebah Bay is a sandy, remote and secluded beach in the north-eastern part of Malta. Water is crystal clear, the environment is usually pristine and very quiet, since very few people usually hang around here. There are no facilities around and the road taking you there is pretty rough (and relatively long), so you might want to prepare yourself before getting into that. Once you get there, you most likely realize it was worth the effort, since you find yourself surrounded by beautiful natural elements, both on the ground and under water; this beach is in fact also good [ ... ]

Malta Beaches – Xlendi in Gozo

Rating: Xlendi is a popular bay in Gozo. It has a small sandy beach and a rocky coastline where locals and tourists alike sunbathe in front of the seafront. Water is pretty clean and so is the environment overall. There are bars, restaurants and all of the facilities you might need and expect from a seaside town. Although it’s a cool place to spend the day if you’re vacationing in Gozo, you probably still have better choices (IE Azure Window, Ramla Bay, San Blas), if your time on the island is limited. Malta Beaches – Blue Grotto

Rating: More known for its main attraction, the Blue Grotto, the village of Zurrieq, also offers visitors a chance to swim. There are in fact a few facilities for swimmers, as well as a few bars and restaurants where to rest. With this said, it’s also true that the place is nothing too speactacular as a beach, and it’s much more reccomended for the chance you have to get into a luzzu (Maltese colored boat) and get closer to the magnificient caves in the area. Actually all of the boat traffic makes it quite dangerous for swimmers. At any case, [ ... ]

Malta – Azure Window – Dwejra Bay, Gozo

Rating: Rather than talking about about a bay, it’s probably more appropriate to refer about an area here. Within close distance you have in fact a chance of both enjoying a magnificent natural setting provided by a natural arch and surrounding rocks, forming a natural pool and other interesting formations, as well as sunbathing, swimming or snorkeling in the so-called azure window. Actually the so-called “beach” wouldn’t be nothing spectacular, if not for the natural hole in the rocks forming a cave interconnecting this natural pool with the sea. It’s a quite cool experience to swim/snorkel/dive into it, even if [ ... ]

Malta Beaches – Ramla Tal-Qortin

Malta Beaches – Pretty Bay

Rating: Pretty Bay’s the only sandy beach in the southern part of the island of Malta. Although it’s probably not worth to reach Birzebbugia (or B’Bugia as it’s usually called in Malta) just to visit it, it might well be a cool place where to chill out for a few hours if you find yourself in the southern tip of the island. Actually, the beach wouldn’t be bad at all, with some fine white sand, a few palms and lot of facilities around. What definitely ruins the environment are the heavy duty harbour facilities you’re facing while at the beach. [ ... ]
