Domes Beach – Rincon – Puerto Rico

Rating: A very popular beach among surfers (and boogie-boarders alike) is Domes Beach, which owes its name to the nearby hemispherical facility, very visible from the beach. Once the designated land for this nuclear reactor built in the 1960s by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, it is now a main surfer morning attraction. Due to moderate current, some rocks and sea urchins it is probably not the best place for swimming or snorkeling. If you’re into whatever kind of activity related to good surf though, this one is definitely the beach for you. There are no bathrooms or other facilties [ ... ]

Oprna bay in Stara Baska – Island of Krk

Rating: At about 10 km south of Punat, lies famous Oprna Bay, one of the most prominent and beautiful beaches of the island of Krk. This 120m wide, remote pebbly beach has some of the clearest waters and best unspoiled environments that you might experience, so it’s definitely suggested for a day at the beach. It’s not very easy to reach it, since you have to follow a pretty long and steep downhill trekking path. Once you’re there, some fun and relax are guaranteed though. Harbor Beach in Baska (Island of Krk)

Rating: This small pebble beach lies right next to the harbor in the town of Baska in the island of Krk. It is a good alternative to Vela Plaza and not too far from it either. Water is usually clear and calm, thus making a good candidate setting for swimmers (and sunbathers alike). The proximity with the harbor, although not a busy one, can cause some disturbance on the water on those days when currents are adverse; never too much of a problem though. Just as Vela Plaza, this little beach can also get crowded, so that it’s suggested that [ ... ]

Vela Plaza in Baska, Island of Krk

Rating: Right within the center of the town of Baska, Vela Plaza is one of the most famous (and hence crowded) beaches in the island of Krk. Water is crystal clear and usually calm, thus providing an ideal setting for everyone, especially families with children. It always gets crowded though, so that you have to show up early in order to secure your spot and also to expect a day surrounded by other people (mainly Italian, German or Croatian tourists) if you decide to stop here. It is mainly a pebble beach with a few spots where sunbathing on the [ ... ]

Croatia – Bunculuka Bay (Baska, Island of Krk)

Rating: Banculuka Bay is a sandy/pebble beach within the premises of the FKK Banculuka naturist Camp, in the island of Krk (near the town of Baska). The beach is pretty wide, offering lot of locations where to sunbathe. Although it’s rare to find yourself suffocating in a dense crowd, you still have to be prepared that you’ll definitely share this beach with other people – to get you an idea about numbers, the camping alone can accomodate more than 1000 guests. Most of these people will be naturist and hence they’ll be naked. Just be prepared for this. Water is [ ... ]

Croatia Beaches – Storišće (Island of Krk)

Rating: Storišće is a nice little pebble beach in the island of Krk. It’s located not too far from the FKK Banculuka naturist camp and can be reached either from there or by boat. If you decide to get there from ground, be prepared to walk (for quite a lot and following a winding, offroad path), since there’s no way to access it by car. There are also no facilities within its premises, so you have to make sure you bring everything you need (especially drinks, since the road to get there is pretty rough and long, especially under striking [ ... ]

Croatia Beaches – Mali Raj (Island of Krk)

Rating: Mali Raj (little heaven in Croatian) is a secluded tiny bay in the island of Krk. It is so small and intimate that no more than a couple or two can share it. Of course, you have to get there early in the morning in order to take it before someone else does! Yes, it’s THAT small. It’s located near the Bunculuka nudist camping (you can indeed find some naturists here also), and can be reached from there through a step and rough trekking path. Once there, you’ll find yourself immerged into the intimate atmosphere which surrounds this tiny [ ... ]

Croatia Beaches – Jablanova (Island of Krk)

Rating: Jablanova is a nice little pebble beach within walking distance from the FKK Bunculuka naturist camp, so that you usually meet many naturists sunbathing here. Although technically outside the camping site, this beach is so close to it, that it basically constitutes and extension of it. Hence it can get very crowded. Although there are no facilities, you can rely on FKK Bunculuka facilities (a 15 minutes walk) for your needs. Tweet This Post

Malta Beaches – Marsalforn in Gozo

Rating: We can’t really talk about a beach here, but rather about the sandy coastline of the seaside town of Marsalforn in Gozo. Although not too dirty, this beach isn’t something to talk about, so you might want to stop for a quick refreshment in the sea if you’re passing by. Definitely you have much better alternatives in Gozo if you’re there for the day. Tweet This Post
